In 1998, after about a year at Tandem, I was fortunate to be selected for Tandem TOPS ("Tandem Outstanding Performers"). The award included an all-expense trip to Vancouver on August 10-14, 1988. Sarah and I flew to Vancouver early (August 6) to look around on our own before the Tandem activities.
During our personal vacation, we stayed at the Pan Pacific Hotel, which was the same hotel used for TOPS. In the four days before the other Tandem people arrived, we went to Stanley Park, the Vancouver Aquarium, Squamish (took a boat ride to Squamish and a train ride back to Vancouver on the Royal Hudson), Grouse Mountain, Capilano Suspension Bridge, and back to Grouse Mountain (it was foggy the first time).
The Tandem events included daily meetings, the TOPS Olympics, the TOPS award dinner, a trip to Victoria (including Butchart Gardens), tandem bicycling in Stanley Park, and a big finale dinner party.
The "regular" (non-stereo) photos are at "Vacations > Vancouver (1988)".
